The finding of a human femur led Tessa, now with WIPD, and Cate, on sabbatical from the FBI, right back to Lamb and his posed blonde, murdered mothers. The mothers were abducted on the fifth of the month, posed then brutally murdered on a 'sacrificial rock/ altar, and buried with a locket containing photos of their last tortured moments on this Earth. The question was who on the island was leaking info to Lamb and carrying out his MO murders. Tracing Lamb's telephone calls led to Chris the realtor and his childhood trauma. They saved Emma his secretary, and Sam initially, as they believed she was the intended target. Henry and Cate are finally engaged and she is out of the FBI for good.Great gravity defying novella, with old characters reappearing, and enough of a back story to make it a 'stand-alone' book. Mike's quick access to Lamb 'private ' communications alluded to governments methods of skirting laws and trampling its citizen's rights. The nature vs nuture dilemma cropped up to leave one wondering, along with Chris' move to the island to spy on Cate for Lamb. Hmmm, I wonder?!? A Must-Read!10/26/20 - 10/26/20 COVID-19 CAShInPl I always enjoy these short police procedural novellas, but this one was just "okay." Perhaps 8-10 more pages of content might have added more meat to this "bone" installment. I wanted a bit more tension and mystery in the storytelling, but the characters and the dialogue were a bit too flat. As a series, this is a nice "bridge" installment, as Cate still struggles with where her life will take her.The focused murder mystery had a solid plotline, but I was hoping for more drama and suspense along the way. I appreciated the quick escape read the author created, which was both fast and fun, but I just needed something more to remember.Audible's narration addition is a nice option that livens up any storyline.I plan to continue following the series, hoping for a little more entertaining excitement next time.This book must be read in order to make any sense.
